India as a Market and Investment Location — MPR India Certification at IHK Frankfurt am Main
1. October 2026A growth market that hardly any company can afford to ignore right now: India. The world’s most populous economy is now also its fourth largest. It has been growing by an average of around eight percent per year for five years. Reason enough for IHK Frankfurt am Main to invite guests to an event on 24 September titled “India as a Market and Investment Location”. Our India team was on site — and we were not the only ones: the room was filled to the very last seat for the panel discussion.
The event was opened by Dr. Jürgen Ratzinger, Managing Director International at IHK Frankfurt am Main. The welcome address was given by Shuchita Kishore, Consul General of the Republic of India. Then the discussion moved straight to specifics.
Because India is long since more than an impressive growth figure. New production and service centres are emerging. The middle class is growing rapidly. Demand for technical products is rising noticeably. And the EU-India free trade agreement will add further momentum. It was agreed earlier this year and is due to enter into force in 2027.
Anne Krieckhaus from the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce outlined current business opportunities. Peter Paul Pratter examined Global Capability Centers as India’s strategic competitive advantage. It became very concrete with Dr. Dominic Deller (SAMSON) and Carsten Diers (DIERS). Both shared hands-on experience on production location and sales. The closing panel discussion with Deutsche Börse, AHK India and Zinnov focused entirely on new approaches in doing business with India.
For us at MPR India Certification GmbH, one thing above all was confirmed that morning: market access is decided by certification. BIS, WPC and comparable requirements rarely sound like the most exciting item on the agenda. But this is precisely where projects often stall. No wonder that many good conversations arose on exactly this topic during the networking lunch and over Indian coffee.
