This amendment introduces exemptions for specific manufacturers and importers, effective from October 17, 2024, the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. Retro-reflective devices usually require <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.certification-india.com\/en\/bis\/what-is-bis\/\">BIS certification<\/a><\/strong> to be approved for import and sale in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/www.certification-india.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/E-Bike-1.3-1024x585.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-29654\" style=\"width:350px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.certification-india.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/E-Bike-1.3-1024x585.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.certification-india.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/E-Bike-1.3-300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.certification-india.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/E-Bike-1.3-768x439.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.certification-india.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/E-Bike-1.3-1536x878.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.certification-india.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/E-Bike-1.3.jpg 1792w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amendment grants exemptions for manufacturers importing retro-reflective devices solely for the production of bicycles meant for export. These manufacturers must submit a self-declaration, including invoice and consignment details, confirming the devices are for export purposes and will not enter the domestic market. Records of these imports must be kept for government audits. Additionally, manufacturers are allowed to import up to 200 units annually for research and development purposes.
