GARC – Global Automotive Research Centre

What does GARC stand for?

GARC stands for Global Automotive Research Centre and is an established test center founded by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and PE, Govt. of India (under NATRIP). Its main tasks include all kinds of tests on automotive components, which are also necessary for the BIS certification of automotive components. GARC is authorized to do this by the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP for short) from the Government of India.

What does GARC do?

GARC has the accreditation for all approvals of vehicles and their components under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules CMVR – Rule No. 126 of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India. Their laboratory has fully equipped test facilities to conduct tests as per national and international standards for vehicles of all categories, systems and components. In addition, testing facilities for electric and hybrid vehicles have also been added to the site. The laboratory also holds ISO/OEC 17025:2005 accreditation from NABL.
