Vehicle Research Development Establishment (VRDE)

The Vehicle Research Development Establishment (VRDE) is a research and test laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The DRDO is in turn under the administration of the Indian Ministry of Defence.

The VRDE is a centre for research and development of vehicles with a focus on the military sector. In the past, the laboratory has been instrumental in the development of new Indian military technology.

Vehicle Research & Development Establishment (VRDE) was established in 1965. Starting with design modifications and technical evaluation of vehicles, VRDE has graduated over the years into an organization capable of undertaking development of futuristic vehicles. Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) is involved in design and development of automotive systems for wheeled and light tracked vehicles, automotive chassis and trailers, engines for unmanned aerial vehicles, electric/electronic systems and controllers for vehicles.

To provide total solution to Defence and Automotive Industry for all their homologation and developmental testing needs through continuous evolution of the NCAT (National Centre for Automotive Testing) into a World Class Test Facility.

Many products and components are tested in test laboratories such as these in order to achieve AIS Certication or BIS Certification.
